JOIN THE “GOAMPI GO-GETTERS” AT THE ACS MAKING STRIDES WALK!

Each step you’ll take is personal. And each step will help save lives. The reason for walking in the Making Strides walk is as unique and special as the story that motivates you. This year GOAMPI will walk as a team to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to help end this disease.

The Making Strides event is not a race; it is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope, and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love. When you participate in the Making Strides event, you’re helping create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays - where breast cancer never steals another year from anyone’s life.

Current Charity Event – Autism Society of Greater Orlando

ASGO was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area.  The mission or goal of the ASGO is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, and advocacy, and public awareness.

We are primarily a volunteer organization.  Most of the volunteers are parents that understand what it is like to live with autism on a daily basis.  We do not know all of the answers and most of us are not professionals in the field.  However, we are here to be of support to you and your family.

ASGO is a not for profit 501(c) (3) organization.  Our funds for dissemination of information, workshops, conference grants, social events, and more are derived from fund raising, private donations, ticket sales to events, and dues.

We do not endorse or dismiss any specific treatment, professional, and/or services.  We are a source of information and support to families of children and adults with autism.  We offer social opportunities for individuals with autism to be included in the community.  We believe that all children with autism are their own unique person and should be treated as such.

Recent Events

Operation Ziploc

In October we kicked off our 4th Operation Ziploc, a drive for much needed supplies to send to our Florida troops who are serving overseas. Working through the Jacksonville USO office, we once again filled bags for our troops. There are over 450,000 Floridians serving overseas. Ziploc bags were on hand at October and November’s luncheons. The filled bags were collected at our Holiday luncheon in December.

Give Kids the World

The families, volunteers, and staff of Give Kids The World Village are deeply appreciative of the members of the Greater Orlando Area MPI chapter for taking time out of their busy schedules this holiday season to create memorable and magical moments the special children who are faced with a life-threatening illness. The mission of Give Kids The World is only possible through the generosity of others. Please think of Give Kids The World when planning your next corporate teambuilding event or gathering with friends.

A Gift For Teaching

Saturday, August 29, we are rolling up our sleeves to give back to the community with a work day at A Gift For Teaching. Volunteers are the heart and soul of A Gift For Teaching.  It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to operate the Free Store and GOAMPI is stepping up to fill this need.   A team of volunteers from our local chapter will spend part of a Saturday at the AGFT store in south Orlando, to help stock shelves, work check out counters and assist teachers with merchandise.  There are a variety of positions to fill so everyone can contribute.  We look forward to showing our support for A Gift For Teaching and the teachers and students in our community.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact Stacy Stella at scott.stella@universalorlando.com and Stacy Feldman at sfeldman@rentfurniture.comClick here for Frequently Asked Questions.

A Gift For Teaching

Mission:  To improve public education by transferring our communities surplus materials and resources free to teachers for their students in need.

A Gift For Teaching’s story is beautifully simple. What began in 1998 from their founder Gary Landwirth as a way to recycle unwanted or surplus supplies from businesses has grown into tri-county-wide operation distributing more than $35,000 worth of school supplies and incentives daily to our community's highest-need schools and classrooms for FREE.
