Committees meet at various times and many require minimal time commitment so check with the specific committee VP for scheduling.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE MarCom supports three different functions: • News Committee • Public Relations/Advertising Committee • Website Committee
News Committee: The News committee works with “The E-Communicator” (electronic newsletter) and “Florida Connects” (the magazine representing all four MPI Florida chapters). All MPI members are invited to submit articles (great way to earn CEU’s for a CMP) and suggestions for stories.
Public Relations/Advertising Committee: Develops relationships with local media, creates press releases, and has direct connection with other MPI-GOA committees in order to support their programs to the Central Florida community. This team also offers advertising programs for The E-Communicator and the Website.
Website Committee: Monitors activity on the MPI-GOA site. Committee works with the management company to have new information updated on the website.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE The Education Committee is responsible for: • Monthly Programs • Updates Education Calendar • Oversees Annual Education Plan
Monthly Programs: The committee coordinates the monthly MPI-GOA programs by developing the program content and securing the speakers.
Education Calendar: The committee updates and maintains the MPI-GOA Chapter Education Calendar. Education programs should be scheduled and confirmed as far in advance as possible.
Education Plan: The committee oversees the annual education plan in accordance with chapter strategies & MPI Standards. The Education Committee does this by researching current industry trends and topics pertinent to the meetings industry through member needs assessment.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Membership supports five different functions: • Prospective Member/Recruitment Committee • Retention and Renewal Committee • Member Care/New Member Committee (Member Care) • Leadership Committee • Student Committee
Membership is responsible for chapter recruiting, care and growth of our members. Committee goals include increasing member retention, growing our membership, and developing members for growth within the chapter.
Prospective Member/Recruitment Committee: This committee keeps a spreadsheet of all new membership inquires, fields application and general membership benefit questions, and follows up regularly with prospective members to encourage them to join MPI-GOA.
Retention and Renewal Committee: Using the chapter membership roster, this committee contacts current MPI-GOA members 4-8 weeks prior to their renewal date, answers general membership questions and encourages the members to renew their membership with MPI.
Member Care/New Member Committee (Member Care): This committee issues new member certificates and information packets, awards 15+ year pins and coordinates new member orientation meetings. During the monthly meeting, this committee operates the Member Care Desk to answer questions and disseminate chapter information and mans the Registration Desk to assist with check-in.
Leadership Committee: This new committee is responsible for volunteer recruitment, placement and succession for the chapter. They are also responsible for the quarterly and annual awards. Some MPI-GOA committee experiences is preferred but not required.
Student Committee: This committee acts as a liaison between UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management’s students, faculty and GOAMPI. It raises MPI awareness among students, thereby increasing MPI-GOA student membership and acts as a conduit for the student chapter. In addition to the student committee volunteers, this committee consists of the student club’s faculty advisor and the annual student mini-conference chairperson.

SPECIAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE Special Projects supports two different functions: • Community Outreach Committee • Special Events Committee
Community Outreach Committee: This committee is focused on the planning and support for MPI-GOA's charitable organizations.
Committee Members: • Assist in choosing the quarterly charity • Work on the projects benefiting the charitable organizations • Assist with planning the specific fundraising events • Participate at the event
Special Events Committee: This committee is responsible for planning and executing MPI-GOA’s three major fundraisers; the Fall Annual Dodgeball Tournament, the Orlando joint Industry Holiday Luncheon (with ISES, NACE and ABC chapters joining), and a Spring Miniature Golf Tournament.

STRATEGIC ALLIANCES Strategic Alliances areas of service include: • Venue Selection Committee • Sponsorship Committee
Venue Selection Committee: This committee secures venues though sponsorship solicitation efforts for the monthly programs (working hand-in-hand with the education committee). This Committee prospects for members and non-members who are interested in forming a partnership with the chapter for a mutually beneficial purpose Return on your Involvement is what you want to make it!
Sponsorship Committee: This committee updates and maintains sponsorship packages as well and contacts those interested in sponsorships. This committee works with many other committees to obtain in-kind and hard dollar sponsorships for events such as the monthly luncheon and board meeting, the MPI After 5 (happy hour) and the year-end Gala (June). The committee also works closely with the Community Outreach committee for sponsorships during the chapter’s philanthropy efforts (i.e. luncheon deliveries to volunteers at a charity function). The ROI for your participation is recognition, reward and chapter exposure at various levels. This committee is in the forefront of determining the location for the vast majority of MPI-GOA’s events and creates the experience of what the members will be viewing, touching, eating, hearing and feeling during the monthly luncheons, board meetings, special events and outings.
