Advantages to Being on a Committee
Being a part of MPI is a great opportunity for building relationships, education, and expanding the horizon of the Meeting Planning Industry. But MPI offers much more than that; the many committees in MPI enable you to put your strengths and efforts to great use. The Community Outreach Committee allows me to give back to my community which is very important. We pick different local charitable organizations and in someway give back to them. Helping those in need always adds more of sense pride and joy to your life.

As a member of the Marketing and Communications committee, I feel more involved, and believe I can make a difference. The committee is a place to use my skills, connect with other MPI members, and learn more about the organization.

As a planner, being involved in a committee is very helpful in building relationships and ultimately friendships with the people I chose to use for business purposes. Also, I have found that the old adage is true, the more involved you are the more you get out of an organization. I have been blessed to meet some terrific people on the Community Outreach Committee!

I'm on the Special Events Committee because I believe you get more out of your membership when you give more and get involved. I chose Special Events Committee because that's what I do for a living and thought I'd have something to contribute. I love the Special Events Committee because of the fun events we get to work on, the people who make up the committee don't make it seem like work at all! We're like a big family!

Wildly Different
Being on the Communications Committee has helped me connect with a lot of people in the industry I would not have normally met. I also enjoy the fact that this committee helps out all the other committees and I feel we make a difference in the MPI chapter. One of the most exciting parts of being on this committee is being able to help improve the look and information the new website provides!

It has given me the opportunity to get to know you and the members on the committee much better than I would have just by attending the luncheons. As well, I really enjoy selling the raffle tickets, going around to the tables, actually making contact with every single one of the attendees at the luncheons. I have found new connections both personally and professionally in this manner. And you know how I feel about community outreach/charity work – LOVE IT. It was my passion as a past Board Member and continues in my participation on the committee today.

Being a member of both the Marcom and Special Events committee has helped me to grow tremendously both professionally and personally. Working with industry leaders who share the same common goal and passion for their craft is a truly rewarding experience.

Being active on a committee has brought the rewards of getting to know more of our members through collaboration on various projects. There’s certainly a sense of pride when you see the end result of a group effort, whether it’s fund raising or a community service project to know that “wow, we really made a difference” and to be a part of something like that feels great.
Ava Hamman, Director of Sales
Sheraton Safari Hotel & Suites
I love how connected I have become to MPI and other members; the relationships I am building become stronger, more fun, and more mutually beneficial every time we meet! And I love it because it’s event planning – but event planning for us members of MPI, so it’s like planning a party or event for friends or family.

Being active in the chapter has been very rewarding to me both professionally and personally. Having the opportunity to not only network with industry colleagues, but also to know that my efforts are helping shape the way others learn and interact with others in the industry is extremely rewarding.
