About MPI Greater Orlando Area Chapter

Membership Renewal Incentives

In the midst of unprecedented economic upheaval, meeting and event professionals are challenged unlike ever before.  We’d hate to see you try to do it on your own. Not when the MPI community is here to provide you the network, education and commerce connections you need now more than ever.

We can make it a little easier, too. Choose one of the following:
•         Renew your MPI membership by March 31, 2010 and use campaign code Renew2009 and you will be entered into a drawing to win either a $500 USD Gift Card

•         Be an instant winner - It's easy to save when renewing your MPI membership online. Credit card purchases automatically receive a 5% discount off your renewal fee.  Just go online to www.mpiweb.org and pay with your credit card and make sure to use the campaign code Online5% when asked to do so and you'll keep more cash in your pocket.

Supporting our members and helping them in the current economic situation:

•    The new Career Connections offers our community and the industry a Web site for employment connections. Plus, we have made it free for employer members and job seeking members to use. MPI members also get a 15-day sneak peak at new jobs posted to the site. Members can post resumes and search available jobs in their area or globally. It also has an advanced job alert system. Members are also encouraged to post their open positions at a significant discount from that of non-members. Internships for our student community are also available.

•    A discussion group has been created to help members share tips and resources for managing your career in an economic downturn. The Career Connections GroupSpace page on MPIWeb.org enables our members to learn share and support each other through online networking.

•    Now the career movements of our global community can be tracked through the Careers in Motion blog on MPIWeb.org. Follow your community connections and track emerging opportunities through the success of others members across the globe.

•    To help our members who have been unfortunately impacted by unemployment, MPI is offering a free six-month extension at renewal. After that, if the member is still unemployed, an additional six months of membership are available for only $99. This allows members to take full advantage of MPI networking opportunities and all of its other resources during a time when it is most needed. The new Career Connections is also available to members in employment transition to assist in landing a new position within our industry.

•    We realize many of our members are having to make tough financial decisions. We don’t want the cost of the membership to stand in the way of retaining MPI membership. We have several programs to help. Members can pay their renewal fees in four small installments. Just call our Member Care Center, listed below for more details.

•    A new program for “Students-in-Transition” from graduation to establishing their career path has been launched. Keeping the connection to the MPI community is very important post-graduates during this transition period that offers over 50% in savings over the regular membership rate in the first three years of starting your career after graduation.

If you have any questions please call our Member Care Team at 972-702-3053. If the full dues rate is impacting your decision to renew, please give us a call. We can discreetly work with you to keep you connected.

Local Autistic Children To Benefit From MPI-GOA Mini-Golf Fundraiser

Dozens of events industry workers will support the Autism Society of Greater Orlando during a mini-golf fundraiser on Thursday, April 30, 2009.

Meeting Professionals International Greater Orlando Area Chapter (MPI-GOA) will be donating proceeds from their 3rd Annual Miniature Golf Challenge to the organization that works to fight autism in Central Florida.

The event is being held at the Hawaiian Rumble Adventure Golf (8969 International Drive, Orlando) on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers will play golf along side young people with autism. This gives the children a chance to interact with adults, learn about the events industry, and be a part of the fundraising event.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that has been estimated to occur in as many as 1 in 166 individuals. Today there are approximately 1,500 individuals with autism in Central Florida.

Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the meetings and events industry’s largest and most vibrant global community, helps our members thrive by providing human connections to knowledge and ideas, relationships, and marketplaces. Total MPI membership is comprised of more than 24,000 members belonging to 69 chapters and clubs worldwide. For additional information, visit mpiweb.org.

The Autism Society of Greater Orlando was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area.  The mission or goal of the Autism Society of Greater Orlando is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, and advocacy, and public awareness.
